While the hairspring breathes in & out, the tiny brass stud zips inward along the spiral track like a marble on a rail and feeds into the red ruby core.

When all tests pass, the spring gives one celebratory bounce and the inner pinhole briefly arcs into a 120ms happy crescent wink before returning to a circle.
